Paul Barreveld

Mr. Paul Barreveld is the Director of the Catalonia Trade & Investment's office in Amsterdam. With over 15 years of experience in marketing, business development and product management, he has worked for multinationals like Schneider Electric, both in the Netherlands as well as in Spain. Prior to working for Catalonia Trade & Investment, he worked as a consultant for Irish startups and tech companies helping them succeed in the Benelux region. He holds a Master's degree in Industrial Engineering & Management, from the University of Twente in the Netherlands.

  • Lyondell Bassell

    Part of a large European petrochemical complex located on the Mediterranean coast, the Dutch Lyondell has 2 plants in Tarragona and 277 employees. They manufacture polypropylene resins and advanced polyolefin products.

  • AKZO Nobel

    In Catalonia, there are three production plants for high-quality paintings and coatings and the EMEA Planning Hub. The Hub centralizes the planning and management of over 30 paintings and 125 multinational stores in Europe.

  • Huijbrechts

    Specialized in mixing and packing powder ingredients, in 2021, Huijbrechts opened a new factory in Massanes with 25 employees. The Dutch company has 2 factories (The Netherlands and Catalonia) from where they serve worldwide.

  • Ohpen

    Dutch company Ohpen, a cloud banking provider, opened its technology development office in Barcelona in 2017. It is the only office Ohpen has in Southern Europe, where it currently employs around 50 people.

  • Corbion

    Experts in fermentation and other processes to deliver sustainable solutions, Dutch Corbion has a sales office & manufacturing facility in Montmeló. Since 2021, the company has increased its capacity for producing lactic acid and lactic-acid derivatives.

  • Synthon

    Synthon Barcelona accommodates full drug research and development - including prototyping, developing and upscaling of production processes, the development and validation of analytical methods and stability studies of the prototypes - as well as production and packaging of registration batches.

  • Brightsight

    Dutch cybersecurity company Brightsight entered the Catalan market in  2017. The company, which acquired the Catalan start-up Bitwise and already has a team of six cybersecurity engineers in the new offices, provides service from Sant Cugat to the whole world.

  • Booking

    In Barcelona since 2004 and the first international office, the Dutch e-commerce made this office its Spanish headquarters. After 18 years they have expanded the customer service office, employing around 500 employees from 20 nationalities and offering services throughout Europe.

  • Swapfiets

    Swapfiets entered the Catalan market in 2021. The Dutch company offers renting a bike, delivery or pick up, and maintenance via a membership formula. You can choose between 2 normal bikes and 2 e-bikes.

  • Bynder

    Opened in 2015, the Barcelona office houses developers focused on providing support to customers and developing integrations for Bynder’s digital asset management platform. It is one of the most diverse offices with more than 15 developers of 8 different nationalities.
