Catalonia seeks Chinese investment at Canton Fair in Guangzhou

Investment consultant Pol Arquimbau, one of the team members of the Catalonia Trade & Investment’s office in Hong Kong, recently visited the Canton Fair in Guangzhou, China, to meet with Chinese companies and explore their interests in investing in Barcelona-Catalonia.

Arquimbau was interviewed by the local newspaper The Nanfang Daily, which followed him through a full day of meetings with Chinese companies. With the main focus on Mobility, ICT, Electronics, and Manufacturing sectors, Catalonia aims to attract Chinese companies to set up subsidiaries in Southern Europe and access the entire continent.

The Canton Fair, one of the first trade shows to fully open after the long Covid-19 hiatus in China, offered an ideal platform for Trade & Investment consultant Pol Arquimbau to network with Chinese companies and showcase the benefits of investing in Barcelona-Catalonia.

China Import and Export Fair, also known as Canton Fair, was established in 1957 and is the oldest, largest, and most representative trade fair in China.

Pol Arquimbau discussed with Chinese companies the advantages of Barcelona-Catalonia's strategic location, world-class infrastructure, and highly-skilled workforce, which make it an ideal gateway to Europe.

“The Canton Fair is one of the largest and most important trade fairs in the world, and I can get a wide range of contacts here. I have seen many different types of companies, and I hope to meet new companies and establish cooperative relations with them”, said Pol Arquimbau.

“We have this strong ecosystem in Barcelona where we offer a very specific location in Southern Europe. And there are a lot of benefits that Chinese companies could actually take advantage of”, he added.
