The official visit of President of Catalonia, Salvador Illa, to Ho Chi Minh City marks a new chapter in investment cooperation between Catalonia and Vietnam, expanding business opportunities.
Catalonia strengthened its economic ties with Vietnam at the Ho Chi Minh–Catalonia Investment Cooperation Conference, organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Investment and Trade Promotion Centre (ITPC) and ACCIÓ-Catalonia Trade & Investment. The event connected Catalan and Vietnamese companies, institutional representatives, and economic stakeholders to explore new trade and investment opportunities.
At the event, President Salvador Illa presented Catalonia as a strategic partner for Vietnamese companies seeking to expand into Europe. He described the region as an "open and diversified economy" and a "gateway not only to Spain, but to Europe, to a market of 450 million citizens."
He also emphasized Catalonia's goal to strengthen economic ties with Vietnam, expressing a commitment to "balanced, lasting, and mutually beneficial relationships."
The conference included sessions focused on enhancing business cooperation between Catalonia and Ho Chi Minh City. Participants included the CEO of Catalonia Trade & Investment, Jaume Baró, Catalan companies operating in Vietnam, Vietnamese companies, and other local economic stakeholders.
The event concluded President Illa's visit to Vietnam as part of his institutional mission to Southeast Asia. He praised Vietnam's economic performance and the government's determination to "achieve double-digit economic growth in this world of accelerated change." He also commended the Vietnamese authorities' commitment to "grow the economy to also improve the quality of life for citizens."
President Illa reaffirmed Catalonia's commitment to "further strengthening" relations with Vietnam and highlighted the need for a direct air connection between Ho Chi Minh City and Barcelona to support business and investment.
After visiting Vietnam, the institutional mission continues in Singapore, where President Illa will meet with Singaporean authorities and representatives of the Catalan business community.
