
Catalan biotech companies seek investors in chicago

Over fifty catalan biotech companies attended the bio2010 international meeting, recently held in chicago (eua). the biotechnology industry wishes to promote foreign investments in catalonia to strengthen growth. the sector has maintained a 20% increase despite the current economic situation. catalonia is also home to about 25% of all spanish biotech firms.
during the bio2010, catalan professionals had the possibility to expand their networks and meet with key investors. judith farrés, head of anaxomics, a company created in 2007m attended the meeting to seek funding for a new treatment for alzheimer's disease while leitat center introduced a new cancer drug and expects to get a license to develop the drug internationally.
