The French food company Danone has opened in Barcelona its first technological hub in Spain, creating more than 30 new jobs specializing in technology and data analysis. The new center, already in operation, is dedicated to innovation and digitization projects related to the company's business processes.

According to the Minister of Business and Labour, Roger Torrent: "This investment, together with the recently announced projects of Pepsico, Google or Microsoft, highlights the potential of Catalonia as a European hub for innovation and technology".

Torrent added: "This type of project represents the values we look for in any foreign investment. They are industry-related, betting on talent and creating quality jobs. They position Catalonia as a benchmark in the knowledge economy".

Danone’s project in Barcelona has the support of Catalonia Trade & Investment, the Catalan Government’s agency responsible for attracting business investments.

The center will be Danone's fifth innovation and technology hub on an international scale and complements those opened last year in France, Mexico, Poland, and Malaysia.

The new hub will support the company's activities in the Iberian Peninsula and aims to contribute to Danone's digital transformation to gain more efficiency and consolidate market strategies, as well as centralize the company's operations and create new business opportunities.

Nicolas Cosqueric, director of Danone's IT & Data area for the Iberian Peninsula, said: "By 2025, we want technology and data to become Danone's great strategic differentiators. This is why we accelerated the consolidation of this hub in Barcelona, where we will coordinate digital projects that will scale globally".

Cosqueric emphasized: "For years, we have been innovating in all areas of our business, but now we need to accelerate the digitization of our business with a space that will have professionals of different nationalities. We want them to grow, develop professionally and oversee digital projects that will lead the company's strategies shortly".

Danone currently has 900 workers in Catalonia located in the central offices in Barcelona, a factory for dairy products and plant-based alternative proteins in Parets del Vallès (Barcelona), a mineral water plant in Sant Hilari Sacalm (Girona), and commercial teams.
