Yaskawa Ibérica, a Japanese manufacturer of industrial robots and motion controllers in Spain and Portugal, will inaugurate its new headquarters on the Iberian Peninsula next September, located in Viladecans (Barcelona).
A pioneering company in the automation sector, Yaskawa Ibérica is carrying out a growth plan to extend its production capacity in Europe, considering Spain a strategic enclave.
According to data from the IFR (International Federation of Robotics), in 2022 Spain is ranking fourth in Europe and tenth worldwide in the installation of industrial robots.
In particular, the metal and food and beverage sectors are experiencing the highest growth in sales of robotic arms: 19% and 18%, respectively. These data show an increase in the demand of companies that opt for the automation of processes and the implementation of integrated technologies.
Laurent Bodin, CEO of Yaskawa Ibérica, stated: "The opening of this new headquarters represents our clear commitment to increase the production of our entire range of products in Europe, grow in the Spanish market, and continue offering our automation solutions in a personalized way to all companies in the industrial sector".
Bodin added: "This is another step in our strategy to achieve the goals we set for 2027: doubling the production volume and reaching the target market shares for our strategic segments and divisions".
Since 2019, Yaskawa has been a pioneer by having a robot production factory in Europe, allowing the company to reduce delivery and supply chain times and react faster to regional demands and its customer’s needs.
The new facilities in Viladecans will allow them to expand their services and increase the distribution capacity of Drives, Motion, Control, Robotics, and System Business products. The company will also build new and larger spaces for the Yaskawa Academy, its training center.
The new headquarters will occupy an entire independent building in Viladecans, strategically located, as it will be just a few minutes from the city of Barcelona and the Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport.
