
New peguform component plant to create work for 140

The german component manufacturer peguform will be expanding its catalan workforce by 140 people when the new 21,000m2 plant it is putting the finishing touches to in castellbisbal, (vallès occidental) comes on line. peguform is a specialist in making parts for seat models, which are assembled in the nearby martorell plant, (baix llobregat), also explaining the choice of location for the site, which will be near that of the subsidiary of volkswagen.
the total amount of capital put into the venture by peguform is estimated to be about €8 million and the new facility will be turning out door panels for the new audi q3 and seat leon models. all in all it will provide jobs for some 200 workers, of whom 60 will have been transferred from the abrera (baix llobregat) plant, which until now has been dedicated to manufacturing parts for the q3. the remaining 140 jobs will be on offer from october onwards, when the firm foresees production of seat leon panels to get underway.
peguform currently registers sales of €1.2 billion, and specialises above all in the making of bumpers and heavy vehicle cabins, as well as being involved in other engineering projects. in addition to the german and spanish plants, it also has factories in brazil, china, mexico and portugal, employing some 6,500 people worldwide.
