Mecaplast expands facility in Catalonia

Mecaplast, the french multinational, specialised in the manufacture of plastic components for the automotive industry has just invested €6.5 million in enlarging its production facility in la pobla de claramunt, running since 1997. the new investment will create 70 new jobs for the area, and see the workforce rise to a total of 430.
the company, which has opted to increase production in spain, as opposed to other manufacturing bases the group has internationally, will add another 5,700m2 to its plant, providing the facility with a total manufacturing space of 20,000m2. the rise in production is expected to lead to an increase in turnover, which will bring the overall figure up to €72 million a year; a growth of 7.4%. the capital invested in expanding the production facility was counselled through invest in catalonia – the investment arm of the catalan department of industry and trade.
mecaplast was founded in france back in 1995 and now employs a workforce of 5,500 in a total of 15 states spread across europe, asia and north america, with a turnover of €643 million in 2010.
