Austrian fintech company Bitpanda will invest €10 million in opening a new tech hub in Barcelona, planning to hire more than 100 professionals by the end of 2022. The company is valued at $4.1 billion.
According to the company’s release, "as an emerging European centre for entrepreneurship and innovation, along with its massive reputation for attracting top international talent, Barcelona is an obvious location for us to launch a Tech Hub".
The announcement of Barcelona's new technology center comes only four months after Bitpanda raised $263 million in its C series. In the last 12 months, Bitpanda has tripled its workforce to more than 600 people of more than 50 nationalities.
Barcelona will be the latest addition to Bitpanda's growing technology ecosystem, which currently has technology centers and offices in 6 European cities, including Vienna, Barcelona, Berlin, Krakow, London, and Madrid.
In Barcelona, Bitpanda will be looking to hire talent in roles such as Back-End, Front-End, Native Mobile Developers (both iOS and Android) and Quality Assurance Engineers.
Founded in 2014 in Vienna, Bitpanda is one of the fastest growing fintech companies in Europe, offering an online platform to invest in stocks, cryptocurrencies and metals.
