Barcelona to host video gaming fair

Spain’s most important video gaming fair; gamelab is to be held in barcelona this year. the event, which will run from 29th june – 1st july, aims to make its mark as a fixture on the video gaming calendar worldwide. the organisers of gamelab have just signed an agreement with the catalan government, barcelona council and the fair of barcelona to make the catalan capital the home of gamelab until at least 2015.
gamelab, which leaves gijon after six years in the city, has made the change to achieve a greater projection for the event. both ferran mascarell, head of the catalan government department of culture, as well as fèlix riera, director of the icic (catalan cultural industries institute) agreed that the accord with gamelab is set to give a major boost to the video gaming sector in catalonia, not least through projects now being set up such as a new school for training content creators. furthermore, the icic will be supporting over 30 catalan enterprises during the event this year.
last but not least, gamelab will be hosting three illustrious figures in the world of video game creation this year: hideo kojima, creator of the metal gear saga, cliff bleszinski, the driving force behind xbox 360, and peter molyneux, designer of fable.
