Coorganized by Biocat, Catalonia Trade & Investment, and the Barcelona City Council, and supported by HIPRA Biotech Services and the Catalan Biotech Group of Boston, the event took place at Harpoon Brewery, in the heart of Boston’s Seaport District — one of the leading global hubs for innovation in health and biotechnology.
The evening featured opening remarks by Robert Fabregat Fuentes (CEO of Biocat), followed by insights from Eduard Viladesau (Managing Director of HIPRA Biotech Services), Robert Negre (Director of Catalonia Trade & Investment office in New York), Xavier Mayo (Head of the Barcelona Investment Office from Barcelona City Council), David Andrés Viñas (Delegate of the Government of Catalonia to the United States and Canada), and a representative of the Catalan Biotech Group.
“Catalonia is one of Europe’s most dynamic biotech hubs, and events like this help strengthen strategic ties with key innovation ecosystems such as Boston,” said Robert Negre, Director of Catalonia Trade & Investment’s New York office.
The Catalonia Networking Reception was part of a broader Catalan presence at BIO Boston 2025, where over 50 companies and institutions from the life sciences sector in Catalonia participated. With a rich ecosystem of more than 1,500 biotech, pharma, and medtech companies, Catalonia stands out in Europe for its innovation, research infrastructure, and commitment to global partnerships in health.
The event reinforced Catalonia’s position as a gateway to Europe for international biotech companies and a trusted partner in advancing health innovation on a global scale.
