Catalonia’s Camiral Golf & Wellness, located in the Costa Brava near Barcelona, will host the 2031 Ryder Cup, one of the world’s most prestigious golf tournaments.

Ryder Cup Europe has officially announced that the 2031 Ryder Cup will take place at Camiral Golf & Wellness, in the Costa Brava region, just north of Barcelona, Catalonia. It will be the second time Spain hosts the prestigious tournament, after Valderrama in 1997.

Camiral Golf & Wellness is widely regarded as Spain’s premier golf course and consistently ranks among the top courses in Europe. The venue has hosted multiple DP World Tour events and is located less than an hour from Barcelona and 30 minutes from Girona, with strong connectivity to international airports and high-speed rail.

“We could not be happier to be taking the Ryder Cup to Costa Brava and Barcelona for the first time, and to Spain for the second time”

Guy Kinnings, Ryder Cup Europe Director

"This is a historic day for everyone at Camiral Golf & Wellness," said Javier Reviriego, Executive President of Camiral. "We are incredibly proud to have been selected to host the Ryder Cup and to represent Spain, Catalonia, and the Costa Brava on one of the biggest stages in global sport."

Institutional Support from the Government of Catalonia

The Royal Spanish Golf Federation submitted the successful bid in collaboration with Camiral Golf & Wellness, with institutional support from the Government of Catalonia through the departments of Business and Labour, the Presidency, and Economy and Finance.

The Government of Catalonia is committed to supporting the event through public investment in mobility and infrastructure, and views the Ryder Cup as an opportunity to promote economic benefits, territorial cohesion, and shared values such as sustainability, inclusion, and legacy.

The Minister of the Presidency of the Government of Catalonia, Albert Dalmau, said: "Hosting the Ryder Cup is a commitment to the territorial cohesion of the country and an opportunity to attract high-quality tourism linked to sport, generating a positive economic impact across the entire territory. It demonstrates that Catalonia once again has the highest ambitions to position itself on the international stage and to host top-level competitions."

This support is part of Catalonia’s broader strategy to attract and promote high-level international events that reinforce its visibility and competitiveness on the global stage.

"The Ryder Cup has grown significantly since Spain last hosted it in 1997. It is one of the world’s leading sporting events, which brings significant economic benefits and global exposure to a host region and country, so we could not be happier to be taking it to Costa Brava and Barcelona for the first time, and to Spain for the second time", said Guy Kinnings, Ryder Cup Europe Director. "Camiral is a spectacular venue and a fantastic addition to the Ryder Cup family. It has long been recognized as one of the finest golf courses in Europe."

"This is the result of many years of hard work," Kinnings added. "We could not have done this without the support of the Spanish Golf Federation and the regional institutions, who have all collaborated extensively to achieve this goal."

A Major Global Event with Lasting Impact

The Ryder Cup is one of the most watched sporting events in the world, broadcast to over 600 million households. Hosting the 2031 edition is expected to bring substantial international exposure to Catalonia and the Barcelona region, along with economic benefits tied to tourism, services, and infrastructure.

Camiral Golf & Wellness is expected to undergo further upgrades in preparation for the event. The Government of Catalonia has emphasized its interest in ensuring that the event is aligned with long-term sustainability goals and contributes positively to the local and regional economy.

The announcement reinforces Catalonia’s position as a dynamic hub for global investment, tourism, and international events, and strengthens its role as one of Southern Europe’s most attractive destinations for sport, business, and innovation.
