Barcelona’s FDI headquarter projects grow by 250%

The number of corporate headquarter projects located in Barcelona has grown by 250%, according to the Financial Times’ fDi Markets. Notably, Barcelona has gone up from capturing 4 international headquarter projects in 2016 to 14 in 2017, thus rounding off the top five cities in Europe.
In particular, the European ranking is led by London, Dublin, Paris, Amsterdam and Barcelona. Although the British capital remains as the most popular destination for headquarter projects, it has registered drops by 13.3% in 2016 and 17.3% in 2017. Meanwhile, Dublin registered a 56.65% increase in 2017 compared to the previous year, while Paris went up 125%. Moreover, Amsterdam attracted around $300m in capital investment in 2017. FDi Markets began recording data on greenfield investment in 2003.
