A large gathering of the press as well as top officials, including president Carles Puigdemont and business minister Jordi Baiget, turned out yesterday to hear the Amazon online retailer announce the plans for opening its new distribution centre. According to the retailer, the centre will open on October 4, after the building work that began in July concludes at the end of the summer. The new complex located in the Mas Blau II industrial estate in El Prat and near the airport will employ 1,500 people.
