Amazon has announced the creation of more than 270 permanent jobs in Catalonia with the opening of three new logistics stations in Barcelona, Montcada i Reixach and Mollet del Vallès, as part of its goal to shorten delivery times to customers in the region.
In addition, 20 independent local delivery companies will collaborate with Amazon and hire more than 800 drivers, who will pick up the packages at the logistics stations and deliver them to Amazon customers in their locations.
"We are delighted to continue investing in Catalonia with three new logistics stations that will provide efficient delivery for customers, and will create hundreds of job opportunities for talented professionals," said Paolo Patrone, director of Amazon Logistics in Spain.
The site in Barcelona will occupy more than 10,700 square meters and will be located in the industrial park of Montsolís. It will generate more than 60 permanent jobs. In Mollet del Vallès, Amazon’s site (10,400 square meters) will be located in the Can Magarola industrial park and will create almost 130 permanent jobs. The site in Montcada i Reixach, of more than 13,490 square meters, will employ more than 80 professionals.
All three sites are scheduled to start operating in October of this year.
