Air China resumes non-stop flights between Barcelona and Shanghai

The airline will relaunch non-stop flights between Shanghai and the Catalan capital with three return flights a week.
Air China will resume non-stop flights between Barcelona's Josep Tarradellas-El Prat Airport and Shanghai. Starting on August 27, 2024, Air China will reinstate one of the most important international destinations from Barcelona after suspending the route in 2020 due to the pandemic.
Direct flights between Barcelona and Shanghai will operate every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday with 320 seats. Air China will operate the Barcelona-Shanghai route with Airbus A350-900 aircraft, and the total flight time will be between 12 and 13 hours.

Barcelona Airport, an international hub in Europe
Barcelona's Josep Tarradellas-El Prat Airport received 4,992,580 passengers in May, an increase of 11.5% compared to the same month last year. Since the beginning of the year, the airport has registered 21,033,679 passengers, 12.8% more than last year. This figure marks a record milestone for the Catalan airport.
Attracting Chinese investment to Catalonia
Catalonia Trade & Investment has established the China Desk, located at the agency's headquarters in Barcelona, to promote investment in Barcelona-Catalonia. The China Desk facilitates dialogue between executives of global companies and local authorities through a team of Chinese specialists. The China Desk also works in coordination with the offices of Catalonia Trade & Investment in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong.
There are currently over 200 Chinese subsidiaries in Catalonia. This number has grown exponentially over the last few years, making China the third most important non-European country in terms of the number of subsidiaries in Catalonia, after the United States and Japan.
