The Italian Catalonia Trade and Investment office in Milan organised the event “Naples- Barcelona, not only football: Opportunities, experiences and investments” with the aim of promoting business links and investment opportunities between Catalonia and Italy.
The event, celebrated at the Unione Industriale Napoli headquarters on February 25th, showcased a group of Italian companies with extensive business experiences in Catalonia.
Walter Greco, the consultant at the Catalonia Trade & Investment office in Milan, highlighted the economic connection between Catalonia and Italy: “Catalonia has 749 subsidiaries of Italian companies and concentrates 34% of total investment from Italian firms in Spain”.
Luca Bellizi, the Catalan Government delegate in Italy, stressed the strong cultural connection between Naples and Barcelona.
Italian investments in Catalonia
Four companies from Naples – Incamais Investment, Antica Pizzeria da Michele, Xpress Feeders and La Vaca Coworking – shared their experiences after opening new businesses in Catalonia.
Marcello Perillo from Incamais Investment highlighted that the key elements for choosing Catalonia are “professionalism, quality of life and proximity to Italy”. According to Alessandro Condurro from Antica Pizzeria da Michele, “Barcelona should represent a challenge for Naples: it is what Naples could be in the future”.
Sergio Espinosa, representing Xpress Feeders, said that investing in Barcelona means “working in a top-level international context”, whereas Dimitri Zoffoli from La Vaca Coworking stated that “the city has a very important startup ecosystem and high innovation culture”.
The event was organized in collaboration with Indolfi&Indolfi, a law firm with offices in Spain and Italy that provides legal, fiscal, and employment consultancy services. Paolo Indolfi, a partner at the law firm, presented the legal framework and tax advantages that Italian companies can benefit from in Catalonia.
Industry in the Campania region
The Campania region is the most industrialized of Southern Italy. Its numerous productive plants are mainly concentrated in the Naples and Salerno area. The automotive, textile, chemical, and electronics industries are the leading sectors and a relevant role is also played by shipyards, thanks to the importance of the port of Naples.
