Six catalan universities to get the "campus of international excellence" distinction

Six catalan universities have been selected to obtain the “campus of international excellence” (cei) certification, a new distinction to be granted to spain's 10 most competitive higher education institutions.
catalan universities competing for the cei include universitat autònoma de barcelona(uab),universitat pompeu fabra(upf),universitat rovira i virgili (urv), universitat ramon llull (url), universitat de barcelona (ub), and universitat politècnica de catalunya (upc). at the request of education authorities, barcelona's ub and upc are to participate together in a single candidature. they are both part of the “campus de la diagonal-knowledge portal” initiative. the cei aims to promote collaboration among faculties, research centers and private companies in a specific area so that they can create a “knowledge ecosystem”.
the education and innovation ministries are to unveil the winners on nov 30. selected universities will share eur 150 million for research activities.
