IREC promotes offshore wind energy platform

the catalan energy research institute (irec) has launched a project to assess the feasibility of operating wind turbine platforms offshore to avoid visual impact. the tarragona-based irec is already working on a test platform off the coast of southern catalonia, irec director antoni martínez said. the project could be operational by 2011. irec has a 5-year budget of eur 28 million for energy projects.
