
General Electric to increase its R&D projects in Barcelona

GE Security, a unit of U.S. multinational company GE, will strengthen its research and development activities with the creation of a new center of excellence. The move includes the expansion and transformation of its facilities in Esplugues de Llobregat (Barcelona).
GE Security, which specializes in fire detection systems, said that they chose Barcelona because the city offers "excellent human talent” and proximity to key markets. The company has so far hired about 40 employees, mostly engineers in electronics, software, mechanics and certification. GE Security received advice from ACC1Ó and the Catalan Ministry of Innovation and Enterprise.
