The Brazilian AI energy software startup has chosen Barcelona as its European base to expand and grow its operations.
Delfos Energy, a Brazilian renewable energy software company, has secured €6.3 million in a seed round to expand its business across Europe. The company has set up its global headquarters in Barcelona, Catalonia (Spain).
The seed funding was led by Contrarian Ventures and Headline, with DOMO.VC and EDP Ventures, climate tech specialists, also participated in the round.
The startup has shifted its headquarters from Brazil to Barcelona, primarily focusing on expanding into the European market. To facilitate this, the company plans to use the seed funding to expand its operations and recruit new employees in Barcelona and other parts of Europe. Its target audience comprises utility companies, maintenance providers, and renewable energy asset owners.
The company specializes in AI energy software, focusing on predictive maintenance solutions and digital transformation to enhance the performance of renewable energy generation. The Barcelona-based startup has developed cutting-edge technology that uses artificial intelligence and big data to automate workflows, enhance performance, and ensure reliability in renewable energy.
The company has introduced a real-time virtual engineer that works seamlessly and autonomously, increasing efficiency and cost-effectiveness. The technology promises to revolutionize the renewable energy industry by reducing human error and streamlining operations.
According to Delfos, its software monitors more than 10GW of renewable energy. The company aims to improve operational efficiency and reduce component replacement costs by 30% while enhancing energy production by 3-5%.

Guilherme Studart, CEO of Delfos Energy, commented: “If we are to enable a green energy transition fully, the renewables at the heart of our future energy supply chain must be as efficient and reliable as possible. This is where Delfos comes in – our technology is designed to drive up the energy produced by each renewable asset, making them more lucrative to run, more efficient, and more appealing to investors looking to back the energy transition to net zero”.
The company's CEO, Guilherme Studart, and CTO, Samuel Lima, have relocated to Barcelona to lead the European operations. Delfos is hiring for its Latam and Global offices, and it is excited to expand its reach and help improve the performance and reliability of renewable energy power plants in both markets.
