Cibek lab to have more than 400 researchers in barcelona

The future biomedical research center (cibek) will be home to more than 400 experts who will carry out research on liver and digestive diseases, nutrition, oncology and neurology. the center to be built in barcelona is to have a nine-story building with more than 9,500 meters of surface, the press reports. the cibek lab also hopes to encourage technology transfer and strengthen the role of clinical trials.
the cibek received an investment of 15 million euros from spanish businesswoman esther koplowitz, chairman of construction conglomerate fcc. the new laboratory, which is entering an alliance with barcelona’s hospital clínic, plans to open its doors in april 2010, anna miró, hospital clínic’s manager confirmed.
