Catalonia boasts a bigger scientific production than countries such as austria, finland and norway, according to a new report by the catalan interdepartmental commission for research and innovation (ciri). in 2008, the catalan production stood at 14,918 published papers, up 12.1% annually since 2003.
scientific papers published in catalonia account for 26.1% of all research documents published by scientists in spain. areas with the highest scientific production include engineering, chemistry, earth and aerospace sciences, computer science, mathematics and physics.
