
Carrefour to open a logistics platform at Barcelona's Port

French supermarket chain Carrefour plans to set up a logistics platform in the Logistics Activities Zone II (ZAL) at Barcelona's Port. The new facility will offer 43,000 square meters and an investment of 25 million euros, making it Carrefour's largest plant in Catalonia.
The French group has logistics centers in the cities of Sant Fruitós, Castellbisbal and Gelida. The new platform will specialize in the distribution of food items and sundries. Carrefour has currently 24 big supermarkets in Catalonia and operates another 30 stores under the Carrefour Express brand. In 2008, the group's revenue in Spain was 15.18 billion euros.
