The company chose Catalonia for its first distribution platform outside Germany, a 10,000 m2 fully automated warehouse.

The German company BIKE24 has inaugurated a new logistics center in Lliçà d'Amunt (Barcelona), investing 10 million euros and creating 50 new jobs.

The company has chosen Catalonia to carry out its first expansion outside Germany through a new 10,000 m2 distribution platform, highly robotized, which aims to become its reference center in Southern Europe.

The Minister of Business and Labour, Roger Torrent, and the CEO of Bike24, Andrés Martin-Birner, inaugurated the facilities of the new center this Thursday. For this project, the company has had the support of ACCIÓ-Catalonia Trade & Investment -the agency for business competitiveness of the Department of Business and Labour.

During the event, Minister Torrent stressed that "the Bike24 project involves innovation and disruptive technology, is a strategic investment, and also has a vocation for sustainability, as it is a climate-neutral company from the point of view and because it contributes to the new mobility". "In addition, it is a tractor project with great growth potential, which aims to create up to 50 high-quality jobs," Torrent emphasized. "The government's will is to help the business network present in Catalonia to expand so that all these projects that generate wealth and quality jobs throughout the territory continue to grow," has highlighted the head of Business and Labour.

“BIKE24 is not only an e-commerce platform for cycling and outdoor sports products, but also a company that contributes significantly to the green mobility revolution”

On the other hand, the company's CEO assured: "BIKE24 is not only an e-commerce platform for cycling and outdoor sports products, but also a company that contributes significantly to the green mobility revolution".

BIKE24 is an e-commerce platform for cycling components, parts, accessories, and different types of bikes: city, electric, mountain, and gravel. It also offers equipment for other disciplines such as swimming, running, triathlon, or outdoor sports.

After a year and a half of construction, the new center is fully operational with about twenty employees, expected to grow to 50 during the following year. It uses an innovative, highly automated strategy, with 50 robots carrying out the packaging and collection process, increasing the center's efficiency.

From Catalonia, the German company collects the demand of the Southern European markets, with shipments of 500 parcels per week to Portugal, Italy, France, and the rest of Spain. Other countries like Belgium and Luxembourg will follow soon.

Besides the facilities in Lliçà d'Amunt, the company has a commercial office with a team in Barcelona.

BIKE24 was founded in 2002 in Dresden, Germany, and employs 550 people. In 2022, the company reached a total turnover of 262 million euros, an increase of 5% compared to the previous year.
