Barcelona's airport authorities are finishing work on the new Terminal 1 in preparation for its official opening this summer. The facilities will provide passengers with half a million square meters of new surface and the latest technology in the airport industry. Terminal 1 will also offer large restaurant and shopping areas and a technical capacity for 90 operations (landings/take-offs) per hour.
Barcelona's Terminal 1 expects more than 30 million passengers each year and wishes to become a reference facility for intercontinental flights within Spain, airport authorities said.
The airport is currently organizing a series of “Open House Days” for Barcelona citizens to get familiar with the new terminal.
