International Events

14 May 2024

The upcoming IoT Solutions World Congress (IOTSWC) will host more than 300 companies and 250 experts from across the globe in Barcelona, unveiling the latest advancements and disruptive technologies transforming industries.

The upcoming IoT Solutions World Congress (IOTSWC) in Barcelona promises to be a hub for innovation, bringing together over 300 companies and 250 industry experts from around the globe (May 21-23, Fira de Barcelona's Gran Via venue). This year, the focus will be on unveiling the latest advancements and disruptive technologies that are transforming industries, with a particular emphasis on semiconductor opportunities.

The eighth edition of IOTSWC will include 125 presentations featuring the four key challenges faced by modern industries:

  • Technology-driven Transformation.
  • Climate Change and Sustainability.
  • Regulations and Standards.
  • Security and Cybersecurity.

Experts will showcase how these challenges can turn into solutions in IoT (Internet of Things), how Artificial Intelligence, Digital Twins, Edge Computing, Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, 5G connectivity, Renewable Energy, Cloud Computing, Big Data Analytics, and Process Robotics can address these challenges and empower industries.

“Our event brings together the entire global technology ecosystem so that the industry can harness the power of technology to overcome its biggest challenges”

Marc Tarragó, IoT Solutions World Congress & Barcelona Cybersecurity Congress Director

The director of the IOTSWC, Marc Tarragó, has emphasized that "our event brings together the entire global technology ecosystem so that the industry can harness the power of technology to overcome its biggest challenges".

He also pointed out, "IOTSWC offers chip manufacturers an opportunity to reach new national and international customers at a key moment for the industry's transformation".

The event offers a variety of experiences beyond presentations. The Activities area features a "Testbed" showcasing real-world applications of these technologies. Attendees can also visit the Startup Pavilion to discover innovative startups shaping the future of the industry.

This Congress will have the presence of Catalan companies and technological centers accompanied by ACCIÓ-Catalonia Trade & Investment. The companies and centers will be located in the Catalonia Pavilion, at stand D80, where guests will be able to enjoy various networking activities and the Brokerage Event. Semiconductors on the Spotlight

This year's IOTSWC places a special emphasis on semiconductors. Leading manufacturers like ST Microelectronics, Lacroix, Tessolve, or Würth Elektronik will showcase their latest projects that will be key to the leap toward digitization and modernization of industry.

The Government of Catalonia recognizes the critical role of semiconductors and is actively promoting this sector. A dedicated pavilion promoted by ACCIÓ-Catalonia Trade & Investment will feature 13 Catalan companies working on chip design, manufacturing, and related services. You can find the companies and centers in the Catalonia Pavilion, at stand D71. Check here the catalog of Catalan semiconductors companies present at the Congress (PDF document).

With this initiative, the event contributes to promoting the strategy developed by the Catalan Government to boost the semiconductor industry. This strategy has created the Catalan Semiconductor Alliance, an initiative of various ministries of the Government of Catalonia, companies, and research and innovation agents who will work together to establish Catalonia as a leading hub of European semiconductors.

The Secretary for Business and Competitiveness and CEO of ACCIÓ-Catalonia Trade & Investment, Albert Castellanos, pointed out that "Catalonia is one of the main centers of technological attraction in Europe, in terms of the number of companies, talent, and capacity to connect sectors of the entire economic fabric". In this sense, he added, "the Catalan Government is committed to a strategy to promote industries such as semiconductors, and to the internationalization and consolidation of the Catalan companies that are part of them, as a strategic and transforming vector of our industry".

China, guest country of the IoT Solutions Congress

China will be the guest country at IOTSWC 2024 to foster international cooperation. A delegation from Wuxi, a major Chinese IoT hub, will be present, along with a Chinese pavilion showcasing ten high-tech companies specializing in areas like energy management chips, intelligent energy and environmental systems for domestic users, and intelligent distribution projects with intelligent vision systems and industrial sensors.
