Barcelona, awarded as the best foreign Smart City in Seoul

Barcelona has been recognized for its leadership in the Smart City sector within the foreign cities category at the World Smart City Expo Korea. It is the most important smart city event in the Asia-Pacific region and gathers governments, companies, and experts from all over the world.
Barcelona has been awarded for its ability to boost key strategic sectors through the Barcelona Green Deal plan in areas such as the digital and creative economy, Industry 4.0, health and biology, as well as the urban transformation in the 22@ Technological District.
The city of Barcelona is the first digital innovation hub in southern Europe and a gateway to Asia. Thus, consolidating ties and relations with Korea, the tenth economy in the world and the most innovative is a priority for the city.
The award has been collected at the same time that direct flights between Barcelona and Seoul have been scheduled again, after being interrupted since the pandemic. Starting on September 2nd, Korean Airlines is offering three weekly frequencies.
