
Badalona opens a cancer research center

Badalona's germans tries i pujol (can ruti) hospital has just opened a research center that will specialize in cancer screening. the new cancer institute of predictive and personalized medicine will be devoted to predicting the risk of contracting the disease. facilities will also offer a dna bank to be set up with samples of catalonia residents. the project has received an 8-million euro investment.
the center is expected to be at full capacity by next year and will have about 150 researchers, led by cancer specialist manuel perucho. initial reseach will focus on gastrointestinal cancer.
