Barcelona is the 4th safest city in Europe and the 11th in the world, according to the study Safe Cities Index 2021 published by The Economist. The report ranks 60 cities across the globe based on 76 indicators covering digital, health, infrastructure, personal and environmental security.
The Danish capital, Copenhagen, tops the list of the world’s safest cities, followed by Toronto and Singapore. This report is published every two years and in 2021, for the first time, it includes a health security index, in response to the Covid-19 outbreak.
With this new indicator, Barcelona takes first place within the European Union for health security and scores 9th worldwide. Tokyo scores first in the global ranking, followed by Singapore and Hong Kong.
