Australia's largest tertiary institution will coordinate its european activities from barcelona

rmit university - australia's largest tertiary institution - is expanding to europe and establishing a presence in barcelona, spain, to coordinate its european activity. rmit vice-chancellor and president, professor margaret gardner ao, said the decision to establish a hub in barcelona was a reflection of rmit's extensive collaborative partnerships in europe.

"rmit europe will build on existing relationships and develop new collaborative agreements with university, industry and civic bodies across europe, to deliver innovative dual degrees, student and staff mobility programs, phd programs and research partnerships.

"it will also provide an opportunity to link rmit activity in australia, asia and latin america with our partners in europe," professor gardner said. "these include universitat politècnica de catalunya, universitat pompeu fabra and the elisava school of design and engineering - all in barcelona," professor fudge said.

as a global university of technology and design, rmit has an international reputation for excellence in professional and practical education, applied and innovative research, and engagement with the needs of industry. with 75,000 students worldwide, rmit has three campuses in melbourne, australia, and two in vietnam, and offers a variety of programs through partners in singapore, hong kong and mainland china, malaysia, india and europe.
