
Vestas to set up a maintenance center in barcelona

Danish energy group vestas is to set up a global center for maintenance of wind turbines in barcelona. the operation is to create 60 jobs. the new barcelona center whose location has yet to be announced, will be the only one of its kind in europe. the company is building a similar facility in colorado (usa).
vestas indicated that one of the reasons for choosing catalonia was the quality and proximity of barcelona and tarragona port facilities. vestas arrival in catalonia comes at a time when renewable energy generate more than half of the electricity demand in spain.
catalan agency acc1o and its invest in catalonia unit offered advise throughout the operation.
