Since 2010, Catalan Wines has showcased Catalan products to over 2,500 US professionals.
The Catalan Wines program has introduced 80 wineries from Catalonia to the United States since its launch 15 years ago. The initiative, promoted by ACCIÓ-Catalonia Trade & Investment, aims to boost the international marketing of Catalan wines and cavas, with a particular focus on the US market.
Catalan Wines was created in 2010 in the United States, one of the world’s leading markets for the sector, where most of the program’s events continue to be held. Over these fifteen years, 80 Catalan wineries have taken part in 41 tastings in some twenty cities across the United States and Puerto Rico. On average, 60% of wineries have participated in more than one edition of the program, amounting to over 560 participations in total, with the presence of more than 2,500 US professionals.

According to Jaume Baró, Secretary for Business and Competitiveness and CEO of ACCIÓ-Catalonia Trade & Investment, "in the current complex context, marked by the United States’ protectionist policies and the new tariffs being applied to imports, this is the right moment for Catalan wines and cavas to continue to invest in this market, since they are in the same position as their direct competitors, products from France and Italy."
He went on to say: "Catalan wines and cavas are well-positioned in the United States, but this is a complex market that requires consistent, long-term work. A contact made between a Catalan winery and an importer at one of these tastings may not bear fruit until a year later, which is why it is essential to continue your presence in order to reap the benefits of all the work carried out so far."
This week, as part of the program, a tasting of wines and cavas from 15 Catalan wineries was held in Chicago (Illinois, United States). This gave Catalan companies the opportunity to present their products to over a hundred US professionals, including importers, distributors, and representatives of specialized shops and the HORECA channel (hotels, restaurants, and cafés).
The next tastings in the United States will take place in February 2026 in North Carolina and in October 2026 in New York City.
In 2025, for the first time, the program expanded to mainland China and Taiwan, with two events held in June in Shanghai and Taipei.
Over the past 15 years, Catalan Wines has also organized events in European countries such as Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Denmark, and the Netherlands, as well as in international markets including Mexico. According to ACCIÓ-Catalonia Trade & Investment, Catalan wine and cava exports worldwide have grown by 18.9% over the past five years (2020–2024).
