The project will initially create 15 jobs, with operations expected to begin in May 2027. The new facility will combine production, R&D and customer spaces, and was established with the support of ACCIÓ-Catalonia Trade & Investment.

Taiwanese company TCI, specialists in the development and contract manufacturing of dietary supplements and skincare products, has invested €20 million in acquiring an industrial facility in the Barcelona metropolitan area (L’Hospitalet de Llobregat) to establish its first production and R&D center in Europe. The project will initially create 15 skilled jobs, with plans to gradually expand the workforce as production capacity increases. The company expects the plant to begin operations in May 2027.

To set up its European center in Catalonia, TCI has been supported by ACCIÓ-Catalonia Trade & Investment, the agency for business growth belonging to the Ministry for Business and Labour.

The investment includes the purchase of a 4,250 m² facility, the installation of new production lines, and the site conversion. The new plant will feature manufacturing areas, three laboratories, offices, and a customer showroom.

In its first phase, the facility will focus on the production of dietary supplements, manufacturing single-dose liquid sachets and functional jellies, two product categories experiencing growing demand across the European market. Besides manufacturing, the center will serve as a platform for the company’s future European research and innovation activities, including the development of formulations and products tailored to consumer preferences and European regulatory requirements. The new plant will also incorporate AI-based digital production management systems, robotic automation, and measures to improve energy efficiency and reduce the carbon footprint of its industrial operations, replicating the sustainable manufacturing model that TCI has developed in Taiwan.

“Barcelona represents a long-term commitment to Europe for us: local manufacturing, local talent, and the same standards of research, development, and quality that our customers know from our facilities in Asia and the United States”

Vincent Lin, President of TCI

With this investment, TCI completes a global manufacturing network spanning Asia, the Americas, and Europe, with facilities in Taiwan, China, India, the United States, and Catalonia. The project forms part of the company’s international expansion strategy, following its acquisition of a manufacturing facility in Utah, United States, in 2025.

According to Vincent Lin, President of TCI, "Barcelona represents a long-term commitment to Europe for us: local manufacturing, local talent, and the same standards of research, development, and quality that our customers know from our facilities in Asia and the United States."

Meanwhile, Yin Liu, General Manager of TCI Europe, said: "Manufacturing in Europe means being close to consumers and close to the market, allowing us to respond more quickly and accurately to changing trends and consumer needs. TCI’s strategy has always been built around three commitments: serving global customers locally, helping our customers expand internationally, and, above all, creating products that deliver genuine benefits to consumers. Barcelona brings together all three. From here, we look forward to bringing products made in Europe to markets around the world."

TCI established its European headquarters in the Netherlands in 2019 and has experienced strong business growth across Europe ever since. The new facility in Barcelona (L’Hospitalet de Llobregat) will complement the company’s existing commercial operations in the Netherlands while providing it with its own manufacturing capabilities on the continent.

As well as serving the European market, the Catalan plant will also support TCI’s operations in the United States. Barcelona’s logistics connectivity will enable shorter shipping times to the U.S. East Coast compared with shipments from Asia, complementing the group’s existing manufacturing network in North America.

Headquartered in Taipei, Taiwan, TCI is a contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) specializing in dietary supplements and skincare products. Founded in 1980, the company serves nearly 1,000 brands across 68 countries and holds a portfolio of more than 2,600 patents and registered trademarks.

TCI currently employs around 1,000 people worldwide and generated approximately US$220 million in revenue in 2025.
