“In Catalonia, we consider the stability of the economy, the future capacity to grow and the available talent”
Rubén Folgado, General Director of Messer Ibérica
In an interview, Rubén Folgado, General Director of Messer Ibérica, highlights a significant investment of 60 million euros in a state-of-the-art Air Separation Unit (ASU) plant. This facility, one of the largest and most advanced in Europe, boasts a daily production capacity of 2,600 tons of oxygen, nitrogen, and argon, utilizing a fully sustainable and electrified process. This method ensures the production of completely decarbonized products, underscoring Messer’s commitment to sustainability.
The new plant has generated 50 skilled direct and indirect jobs in Catalonia, contributing to the region's economic growth and employment opportunities.
According to Rubén Folgado, Messer’s decision to invest in Catalonia is driven by the region's stable economy. "We’ve been working here for more than 50 years, and the stability of the economy is one of the most important values to us", Folgado explains.
The strategic location in Southern Europe’s primary chemical hub also offers significant growth potential. Folgado emphasizes the abundant availability of talent in Catalonia, with the region attracting both local and international professionals. "People from other countries are delighted to develop their professional life in Tarragona and Catalonia", he stated.
Messer’s continued investment in Catalonia exemplifies the region’s appeal as a thriving center for industrial innovation and growth.
