The firm has had the support of ACCIÓ-Catalonia Trade & Investment for this project with the collaboration of Logicor and Cushman & Wakefield.

The Danish multinational NORMAL will create more than 300 jobs with the opening of a new logistics site in Pla de Santa Maria (Tarragona, Catalonia). The company will invest €20 million in a facility of over 40,000 square meters, its first logistics center in Spain, to strengthen the distribution of its products across Spain, Portugal, and southern France.

To establish this new hub in Catalonia, NORMAL has received the support of ACCIÓ–Catalonia Trade & Investment, the agency of the Government of Catalonia, with the collaboration of Logicor and Cushman & Wakefield.

“We're excited to take this important step in our international expansion with the opening of our first logistics site in Spain”

Niels Katholm, Chief Logistics Officer at NORMAL

According to Niels Katholm, Chief Logistics Officer at NORMAL, "We're excited to take this important step in our international expansion with the opening of our first logistics site in Spain. El Pla de Santa Maria offers the perfect geographic position to serve Spain, Portugal, and southern France efficiently. From the very beginning, we've had a good collaboration with partners, and the openness we've experienced from local institutions and stakeholders has been truly encouraging. We've already experienced great interest from potential employees, which confirms our belief that this region is ideal for attracting qualified talent and building a strong team."

Miquel Sàmper, Minister of Business and Labour of the Government of Catalonia, highlighted the strategic significance of the project: "The commitment of NORMAL to Catalonia once again demonstrates the attractiveness of our region as a strategic location for any multinational looking to operate in Southern Europe, thanks to its geographic position, access to talent, and high-quality infrastructure."

The site, leased from Logicor, will feature 1,500 square meters of office space and areas for cooled storage for temperature-sensitive products, among other applications.

Pilar Valencia, Country Manager for Spain at Logicor, stated: "We are proud that a company like NORMAL has chosen one of our platforms for its logistics debut in Spain. Logicor's strategic vision to ensure the availability and flow of essential products in our everyday lives has been fully met by this new lease agreement. We thank all the partners involved in reaching this important goal for Catalonia. Logistics drives development and prosperity, and we are excited to contribute to Tarragona's growth through this fantastic project and customer."

Pere Morcillo, Head of Industrial and Logistics, Spain at Cushman & Wakefield, added: "With this transaction, availability in Tarragona is reduced by around 10%, confirming the dynamism of the market in this area. The asset will become NORMAL's national and Southern Europe distribution center, reinforcing Tarragona's strategic role as a key logistics hub for Southern Europe."

With more than 900 stores across nine European countries, NORMAL continues to expand its international presence. The new center in Catalonia consolidates Camp de Tarragona as a strategic logistics location in Southern Europe and underlines the region's strong infrastructure, talent, and connectivity.
