As an essential part of Sanofi's global digital and commercial operations, the new Barcelona hub will drive high-impact initiatives to improve the health and quality of life of patients worldwide. The hub will especially lead the generation of real-life evidence (RWE), supported by expert teams in biostatistics, statistical programming, clinical data analytics, engineering, and data science, to perform advanced analytics and enable more informed decisions across the organization. It will also support Sanofi's medical and scientific teams, as well as R&D and supply chain areas, reinforcing its role as a driver of innovation and operational excellence across the company.
Madeleine Roach, Executive Vice President, Global Head of Commercial Operations at Sanofi, stated, “Barcelona has the talent, creativity, and digital mindset we need, and we are inviting its best and brightest minds to help us shape the future of global healthcare. In such a competitive digital landscape, we are offering something extraordinary: the opportunity to develop smarter, faster solutions for patients around the world from one of Europe's leading innovation hubs. This hub is more than infrastructure: it's an investment in people, in ideas, and in Barcelona's role as a driver of Sanofi's AI-driven, patient-centric vision.”
Raquel Tapia, CEO of Sanofi, emphasized that "This new hub is a sign of trust in the innovation ecosystem of Barcelona, Catalonia, and Spain, reflecting their growing role in Europe's digital and scientific leadership." She added, "By establishing an AI-driven global initiative in Barcelona, we are creating high-value jobs and skills locally and helping to position Spain as a key driver in the transformation of the European healthcare sector."
Since 2016, Barcelona has been home to Sanofi’s Global Innovation Center, which serves as a catalyst for innovation and digital transformation at an international level. The launch of the new AI-driven hub represents the next step on this journey, expanding Sanofi’s capabilities and ambition in the region. In this way, the facilities become part of Sanofi's global network of strategic hubs, which also includes those in Hyderabad, India; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Budapest, Hungary; and Bogotá, Colombia.
