The company is expanding its presence in Catalonia with new facilities, adding to its three existing centers in Barcelona, Parets del Vallès, and Castellví de Rosanes.
The French company Elis opened its new industrial laundry plant for cleanrooms in Granollers (Barcelona) on Wednesday. The project represents an investment of six million euros and has created 50 new jobs in the new facilities, which occupy 1,500 square meters within a total area of 3,000 square meters. Specializing in rental and maintenance services for clothing and textile equipment, the company strengthens its presence in Catalonia with these new facilities, which cater to the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, electronics, and food industries, all requiring low particle contamination levels.

Elis's project to expand its presence in Catalonia with a new industrial plant has received support from the Government via ACCIÓ-Catalonia Trade & Investment, the competitiveness agency of the Ministry for Business and Labour. The opening ceremony was attended by Roger Torrent, the Minister for Business and Labour, along with ACCIÓ-Catalonia Trade & Investment's Executive Director, Joan Romero.
For Minister Torrent, Elis’s new plant in Barcelona represents “a technological leap for the company to continue adding value to its presence in Catalonia”. He emphasized that the opening of this new plant with additional technological components “demonstrates Catalonia's ability to develop multinational investment projects both in quantity and quality”.
Mathieu Chapelle, general manager of Elis in Spain, stated, “We are very proud to inaugurate this plant in Granollers, a facility that represents the future of industrial laundry for cleanrooms”. He added, “This investment allows us not only to meet our clients' current needs but also to prepare for future demands and ensure high-quality, reliable service”.
The new Elis plant in Granollers is focused on serving cleanrooms, which are environments maintaining low levels of contamination where particle control and hygiene are critical to ensure the quality and safety of products. When fully operational, it will have the capacity to process 96,000 pieces of clothing per week.
The new center in Granollers meets all cleaning and sterilization standards required by industries such as pharmaceuticals and food processing. The plant is equipped with an automated textile management system and features two different rooms (ISO 5 and ISO 7) to ensure efficient and high-precision cleaning and disinfection according to each industry's requirements.
Elis, a French company, provides rental and maintenance services for clothing and textile equipment to sectors such as industry, healthcare, hospitality, and services. In addition to the new Granollers facility, the company has offices in Sant Cugat del Vallès (Barcelona) and three operational plants in Barcelona and the metropolitan area (in Parets del Vallès and Castellví de Rosanes).
