Backed by ACCIÓ-Catalonia Trade & Investment, Eurecat has delivered 16,000+ innovation projects, invested €27M in tech infrastructure, and created 12 spin-offs over the past decade.
The Eurecat technology center has reached its 10th anniversary with a cumulative impact exceeding €1.25 billion on the revenue of Catalan companies and organizations, reflecting its multitechnological capacity to transform industrial processes and generate new business activity. In fact, Eurecat closed 2025 with €74 million in revenue.
Eurecat, created in 2015 as a result of the Catalan Government’s policy to support technology transfer and innovation through ACCIÓ-Catalonia Trade & Investment, the agency for business growth of the Ministry for Business and Labour, has carried out more than 16,000 technological innovation projects and services over the past decade.
“Eurecat is one of the most efficient, reliable, and financially solid technology centers in Europe”
Xavier López, Director General of Eurecat
Eurecat’s activity to accelerate technological innovation, strengthen business competitiveness, and generate value for society as a whole has translated into a multiplier effect of 10 in terms of return per euro of public support. This places the center in a leading position in Europe, surpassing major European technology centers in efficiency and tangible economic impact. This impact has materialized in support for more than 3,500 small and medium-sized enterprises in their technological innovation processes.
Furthermore, Eurecat mobilized €112 million in private investment for R&D&I activities between 2020 and 2024 and invested a total of €27 million in technological infrastructures in Catalonia aimed at innovation in new products and manufacturing processes related to digital technologies, industrial technologies, biotechnology, and sustainability.
Over this decade, Eurecat has registered 578 intellectual property assets, produced 455 high-quality scientific publications, and created twelve technology-based companies that have brought innovative solutions to market in fields such as medical devices and materials transformation. In terms of technology transfer and innovation, the return from Eurecat’s participation in the Framework Programme since 2015 amounts to €138 million.
Since its creation, Eurecat has more than doubled its workforce, which now includes more than 850 professionals from 36 nationalities. As well as contributing to the creation of highly qualified jobs, the technology center has trained 40,000 professionals through Eurecat Academy, 80% of whom participated in highly specialized continuous training programs.
The Minister for Business and Labour, Miquel Sàmper, highlighted "the importance of having a reference technology center not only for Catalonia but at the European level to shorten the distance between research and the market." Along these lines, he stressed that "the drive and collaboration with ACCIÓ-Catalonia Trade & Investment has been and must continue to be a fundamental pillar in strengthening the competitiveness of Catalan companies."
According to the Director general of Eurecat, Xavier López, "Eurecat’s ultimate purpose is to improve the competitiveness of companies, especially small and medium-sized ones, by accelerating and intensifying their innovation activity." To achieve this goal, Eurecat "facilitates the validation and scaling of technologies in pre-industrial and industrial phases, close to the environments where they must operate and generate real impact, with the aim of transforming knowledge into operational solutions and accelerating their industrial adoption," he added.
For Eurecat president Daniel Altimiras, "it is essential that more companies and organizations adopt technological innovation on a sustained basis as a strategy to overcome challenges, enhance competitiveness, and open new markets."
The Catalan Government’s policy to support technology transfer and innovation enabled the creation of Eurecat in 2015 as a benchmark technology center in Catalonia, aimed at restoring a leadership position in technology transfer and industrial innovation.
Since then, Eurecat has carried out more than 16,000 technological innovation projects and services, deployed its activity across eleven locations in Catalonia, and multiplied by more than four the number of companies it serves with innovation services.
Eurecat strengthens a results-oriented model and the pre-industrial scaling of solutions, combining multitechnological capabilities and advanced infrastructures with agile operations close to the environments where technology must demonstrate its value. In this regard, the director general of Eurecat notes that the center is "one of the most efficient, reliable, and financially solid technology centers in Europe," with distinctive capabilities in fields such as advanced robotics, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and new materials.
Throughout this trajectory, Eurecat has consolidated its development with the support of ACCIÓ-Catalonia Trade & Investment, the Catalan Government’s agency for business growth, reinforcing the drive for innovation and technology transfer across the productive sector.
The technology center has also promoted collaboration with other territorial stakeholders in areas such as Applied Artificial Intelligence, climate resilience, industrial decarbonization, and the electrification of sectors such as automotive, contributing to stronger collaborative innovation rooted in proximity and real impact.
