Catalonia to participate in 'smart trains' project

The catalan government is joining forces with barcelona-based cetemmsa technological center to launch a new project called conpass to develop innovative or 'smart' materials to improve the comfort and environment of train interiors.
the eur 2.5-million project will have a team of 20 engineers and experts from companies such as alstom, textile firm trebortex and lighting application provider jvv. the objective is to make seats more comfortable, increase natural light and improve temperature control.
