Catalonia has 250 high-growth companies, which posted sales increases of 174% and doubled their workforce between 2004 and 2007, according to the "high-growth businesses and ‘gazelles’ in catalonia" study. the report was presented by the department for innovation, universities and enterprise of the catalan government.
high-growth companies included in the study have an average of 10 workers or more and belong to the so-called "new industry." twenty of them have less than five years in business and are called "gazelle companies." in 2007, these high-growth companies posted total revenue of eur 3.4 billion.
