
Catalan exports grow by 17.2% in the first semester of 2022

Catalan exports have grown 17.2% in year-on-year terms during the first half of 2022, reaching €46,500 million. It is the highest figure in the historical series during a first semester, according to ACCIÓ- Catalonia Trade & Investment based on data from ICEX-Estacom.
According to the Minister of Business and Labour, Roger Torrent: "These results show that despite the complexity of the international economic situation, Catalan companies are competitive and well positioned in the world".
"The foreign activity of the Catalan productive fabric is a structural feature of our economy and one of the great assets we have as a country", Torrent underlined.
Thus, in the January-June period, the sales of Catalan companies abroad have been the highest in all Spain, accounting for 24.4% of total exports in Spain.
By sectors, the year-on-year growth in exports of chemical products (+30%), food and beverages (+14.4%), and capital goods (8.9%) stand out.
During the first semester, exports have grown in year-on-year terms in the four Catalan provinces: Lleida (+23.6%), Barcelona (+17.3%), Tarragona (+16.5%), and Girona (+15%).
In June, sales of Catalan companies abroad reached 8.4 billion euros, 18.4% more than the same month last year. It is the highest figure of the entire historical series in the month of June.
