Omega Funds leads the round and Spain's FOCO joins as a new investor, backing a stroke device maker with a production facility near Barcelona, Catalonia.
Anaconda Biomed, a medical technology company with a production facility in Sant Quirze del Vallès, Barcelona, has announced the closing of a €49 million financing round with new and existing investors.
The round was led by Omega Funds, with participation from new investor FOCO, Spain's co-investment fund managed by COFIDES, and continued support from Asabys, Ysios Capital, and CDTI through its SICC Innvierte program.
Proceeds will support product development and clinical work, including completion of the ongoing ATHENA pivotal IDE study, a prospective, randomized trial of 327 subjects that will evaluate the safety and performance of the ANA Funnel Catheter.

Founded in 2015 by Marc Ribó and Ofir Arad as a spin-off of the Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR), the company is developing a portfolio of novel thrombectomy catheters based on its core Funnel Catheter platform. According to Anaconda Biomed, the technology is designed to improve clot capture, reduce embolic complications, and maximize rapid reperfusion. Its production facility near Barcelona gives the company direct control of key development and manufacturing processes.
"This latest funding round allows us to advance our work further in the acute treatment of those suffering a stroke, to reduce disability and death caused by large vessel occlusive disease," said Trent Reutiman, Chief Executive Officer of Anaconda Biomed. "The support of this leading group of investors reflects the growing confidence in our technology platform."
Claudio Nessi, Managing Director of Omega Funds, added: "Anaconda is bringing a next-generation solution to the large and growing ischemic stroke market. For millions of patients worldwide, its product portfolio offers hope for better treatment outcomes."
