Iberia unveils a new maintenance hangar at el prat airport

Iberia has officially opened a new maintenance hangar at barcelona's el prat airport. the eur 25 million project is part of a joint effort between the spanish airline (75%) and barcelona's zona franca consortium (25%) and is expected to create some 200 jobs.
the facilities will have an area of 13,200 square meters and will conduct the most comprehensive inspections and repairs in the commercial aviation sector (type-a & type-c). the hangar will also be spain's first to be able to provide maintenance services for the airbus 380, the world's largest aircraft. the new hangar will work at full capacity 18 months after it enters in operation.
