In its latest edition, the building sector flagship fair; construmat in barcelona has enjoyed the support of buyers and sector professionals from nearly sixty countries across the globe, including brazil, chile, china, mexico and morocco, to name but a few. one of the key aims of the fair this year was to provide greater support to spanish smes in the sector, which are looking to expand overseas. “one of the best ways of overcoming the current malaise of the sector at home,” according to josé miarnau, chairman of the event, who expressed clear ideas on how the fair should be focused in the future too. “the important number of international contacts made during this fair is a clear sign that we were right to put our weight behind expanding out into overseas markets.”
final figures for visitor numbers have yet to be released, but by friday at midday, the event had already received nearly 130,000 professional accredited visitors alone, without counting the general public. out of this total of trade visitors it is estimated that some 20% will have been made up of overseas buyers from emerging states worldwide.
