VMWARE to invest 100 million dollars in a new Digital Sales Centre in Barcelona

VMWARE, specialised in corporate software development and cloud infrastructure, has announced a 100-million-dollar investment plan to open a Digital Sales Centre in Barcelona in five years’ time. The company will create up to 250 jobs in the city as a result of their growth strategy to promote technological talent in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA area) from their new centre in the Catalan capital. For this investment project, the company has the support of Catalonia Trade & Investment, the public agency for business competitiveness, belonging to the Catalan Ministry of Business and Knowledge.
According to the Catalan Minister of Business and Knowledge, Àngels Chacón, “It’s great news for Catalonia that the American multinational VMWARE has decided to locate its new centre in Barcelona. They are a globally leading company in cloud technology and, as such, a key player in the wave of tech transformations we are going through today”. Projects such as this, in Minister Chacón’s view, “contribute to consolidate Catalonia as one of Europe’s most powerful hubs for tech companies. Barcelona has the main asset which drives technology: talent”.
VMWARE provides cloud, networking, safety and computational solutions to over 500,000 clients around the world helped by a 75,000-partner ecosystem. Headquartered in in Palo Alto, California, the software company will now run the EMEA region from Barcelona.
This digital sales centre, located at the 22@ District, will provide clients with specialised assessment with the aim of scaling up the company’s services, channels and solutions and turning Barcelona into the epicentre of their software business in all the EMEA area. According to Senior Vice President and General Manager for VMware EMEA, Jean-Pierre Brulard, Barcelona is “a city with one of the most technological growth scenarios in the EMEA”.
