The project is expected to take 38 months to complete and will contribute to the decarbonization of transportation and logistics.
The Port of Barcelona will invest €124 million to build three new bulk liquid berths for the loading and unloading of new sustainable fuels, which must enable the decarbonization of transport and logistics.
The construction of these three new berths and the enlargement of the existing pit to ensure the correct connection of the unloading arms to the industrial facilities operating in the Energy Dock will take 38 months to complete.
The so-called new berths 34 of the energy dock are necessary to increase the unloading capacity and to organize the traffic by type of product in these facilities, to offer a better service both to the ships and to the terminals that operate the infrastructure, and to strengthen the role of the Port of Barcelona as an energy hub in southern Europe and the Mediterranean. Once these berths are operational, together with the future pontoon berth 35, the current berth 32 will be converted and used exclusively for the loading and unloading of chemicals and liquid agri-food products in bulk, as well as the construction of an exclusive berth for car carriers.

The Port of Barcelona awards a concession to WTCB to develop the BlueTechPort project
The Port of Barcelona has also approved the granting of an administrative concession of 15,723 m2 to the company World Trade Center Barcelona, S.A. (WTCB) for the development and operation of the BlueTechPort project, dedicated to hosting technological innovation startups focused on the blue economy.
WTCB will comprehensively refurbish and rehabilitate the old warehouses on the Sant Bertran dock and operate the complex for 36 years.
The Port of Barcelona will present this project in the coming days.
