The generalitat names 16 new enterprise ambassadors to catalonia

The catalan government minister for enterprise and employment, francesc xavier mena, has named 16 senior executives from multinationals operating in the territory as new enterprise ambassadors of catalonia. among the new enterprise ambassadors figure senior managers from such groups as: schweppes, ritz carlton, delta-partners, hewlett packard, eckes, granini and morgan stanley private.
the latest posts now bring the total of enterprise ambassadors for catalonia up to 51.this initiative started up in 2007 with the aim of taking advantage of the fact there were a significant number of catalans on the boards of major multinationals, who would be able to act on behalf of their land, being able to fully explain the virtues of choosing catalonia as an ideal place to invest in.
the department of enterprise and employment has set out an action plan to undertake a series of promotional activities for the years 2012 – 2014 in order to further boost the number of investment initiatives in the territory, one of which is that of the asian headquarters plan. this is aimed specifically at investors from the continent, focusing above all on investment in technology and especially on catalonia’s drive to position itself as one of the main hubs for electric vehicle development and production.
at present the generalitat, through its investment arm; invest in catalonia manages a portfolio of 213 projects, up 27.5% on last year, and at a five-year peak. last year the agency handled €240 million of overseas investment in catalonia, 215% more than in 2010.
