The Chinese Government owned company China Certification & Inspection Group-CCIC has inaugurated its Certification Lab in the logistics area near the Port of Barcelona. It is the only lab that the holding has in Europe and the first one of CCIC that has only used Chinese capital outside their country.
The L’Hospitalet based lab will offer services for both European companies willing to enter the Chinese market and for Chinese companies that want to establish contact with foreign countries. On the one hand, CCIC will offer industrial and technological product certification services, as well as technical advice for companies willing to enter the Chinese market. Furthermore, CCIC will also help Chinese companies to contact occidental suppliers and to invest abroad.
Since 1994, the Chinese company has also an office in Barcelona, with 7 workers, and in other European cities such as Bremen, Marseille and Rotterdam too. However, testing couldn’t be done in these offices and the company had to do so in China. The L’Hospitalet lab will now serve as more than just a representation office, as it will handle testing, which will make business and logistics easier for both the Chinese company and its European clients. During the first stages of this new project, the lab will focus on the automotive sector, while it aims to expand its services to the textile, construction and chemical industries in the future.
The group has invested €4.2M for this project and will create 8 qualified job posts. The Catalan subsidiary of the Chinese company, CCIC Europe Testing, has had the support of Invest in Catalonia during the development of the project. The company has also signed a collaboration agreement with ACCIÓ (Catalonia’s Agency for Business Competitiveness) to promote business and trade between Catalonia and China.
