Barcelona was selected for its robotics and AI ecosystem as the company expands its engineering footprint in Europe.
Swiss robotics company ANYbotics has opened a new office at DFactory Barcelona, expanding its engineering presence in Europe to support customers and accelerate the development of autonomous inspection technologies.
The new Barcelona office becomes ANYbotics’ third hub worldwide, alongside its existing locations in Zurich and San Francisco. According to the company, Barcelona was selected for its robotics and artificial intelligence ecosystem, engineering talent pool, and conditions for building a product and software organization.
ANYbotics develops autonomous inspection robots for industrial environments. As adoption of autonomous inspection technologies accelerates across industries, the company is expanding its global footprint and engineering capacity to support growing customer demand.

"We’re building a global company to match a global opportunity. Barcelona gives us access to exceptional engineering talent in a city that has developed into a hub for robotics and industrial technology," said Péter Fankhauser, CEO of ANYbotics.
From Barcelona, ANYbotics will strengthen its capabilities in autonomy, perception, and software systems, supporting customers as they scale autonomous inspection across their operations.
"The Barcelona team will work on computer vision, machine learning, and core software systems that directly shape what our robots can do. These are hard problems, and Barcelona gives us access to the kind of people who solve them," said Andrea Corda, CTO of ANYbotics.
Initially, the office will focus on four key areas: computer vision and machine learning, backend and frontend software engineering, mechatronics, and DevOps.
ANYbotics also expects the Barcelona office to grow over time, adding functions such as supply chain and commercial roles.
DFactory Barcelona is an Industry 4.0 campus that brings together advanced manufacturing, automation, and robotics. The location also provides proximity to partners, infrastructure, and a community that supports hiring and collaboration.
"The addition of ANYbotics to the DFactory Barcelona ecosystem reinforces our commitment to a safer, smarter, and more efficient industry. Its autonomous mobile robotics technology, applied to industrial inspection in complex environments, represents a clear advancement in operational safety and data management," said Pere Navarro, Executive President of the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona.
"ANYbotics’ installation at DFactory reaffirms the value of our Industry 4.0 ecosystem, which is specialized and focused on applied innovation. Here, talent, partners, and infrastructure come together to enable the creation of high-level engineering teams and accelerate R&D in real-world environments," said Blanca Sorigué, CEO of the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona.
With Zurich and San Francisco as established hubs and Barcelona as its newest location, ANYbotics says the expansion will support customers across Europe, North America, and Asia while helping the company continue to attract talent in robotics, AI, and software engineering.
